HO Scale InterMountain #50083 HO Scale ACF 4650 Covered Hopper MRL (Weathered)
Here is a heavily weathered Montana Rail Link (MRL) ACF 4650 covered hopper. In the late 80s and early 90s, the MRL purchased a handful of these covered hoppers from the Burlington Northern (BN) and repainted them in the railroad’s attractive blue scheme and logo. Within a decade, the MRL paint had started to peel from the top of the cars revealing the BN green colors under the MRL paint. The model features the paint chipping as seen on the prototype along with hand painted graffiti tags. The FRA yellow reflective tape is from Fusion Scale Graphics.
Originally designed by ACF in the 1960's, these cars were produced in the 1960's and 1970's. They have been used to haul grain, kaolin clay, salt, sugar and other commodities. Used by many railroads, private operators and leasing companies, they have appeared in a large array of paint schemes. Today, many remain in service with a wide variety of operators.
FEATURES:
Fully assembled and ready to run
Etched metal roof walks
Metal wheels
Kadee 158 couplers
Accurate painting and printing
Multiple road numbers available
